The DPC Model

At KAP Medical Group DPC and Family Medicine, Dr. Karina Azank Parilo offers personalized medical care for you and your family through a unique model called Direct Primary Care (DPC). In this model you pay a flat monthly fee which covers all of the primary care services I provide. You do NOT pay anything else when you come in for a visit. No co-pay, co-insurance, deductible, etc. as I do NOT bill your insurance. This means I do not have to deal with all of the red tape and overhead that billing insurance companies entails and allows me to have a much smaller practice where I can focus on you, my patient. You get 24/7 access to me as your doctor through office visits, phone calls, secure text messaging, email and secure video chat, whatever is appropriate for what you need. When have an appointment, there will be little to no waiting in the office due to the amount of time allowed for each visit and the small number of patients in my practice compared to a traditional practice. During your visits we will have time to discuss the best way to manage your entire health (physical, emotional and mental) whether it’s a new acute issue, how to manage your chronic medical problems and how to keep you healthy. You can see me the same day during the week and reach me during evenings and weekends by text or cell phone, without going through an answering service or an on-call physician so you are less likely to need urgent care services or make trips to the ER outside of a true emergency.

See What People Are Saying

Save money with a DPC membership for you and your family even if you have insurance!

Many people think this is going to cost me MORE money, however, with today's high deductible insurance plans, DPC can be a money saver. Say you have a high deductible insurance plan through your job or the marketplace, you usually have to meet your deductible (typically $1500-2000 as an individual or 4000-6000 as a family) before your insurance picks up ANY of the tab. So when you go to see your doctor for an office visit (for your blood pressure, diabetes, ADD, asthma, etc or because you’re sick) you have to pay 100% of the visit fee typically $125-$150 until you meet your deductible. If you have a $1500 deductible, that means unless you have a hospitalization or need for major diagnostic testing, you have to pay out of pocket every time you see your doctor. Not so with DPC, with your membership you pay a flat monthly fee (totaling $600-720 per year for an individual or $1800 per year for a family of 4) like you would a gym membership and like a gym membership, you don’t pay any more or less regardless if you come in once a year or once a month. Your insurance policy is still there to cover if you have expensive, unusual and unpredictable events such as surgery, emergency care and hospitalization. – BUT NOT for everyday preventive primary care! Everyday personalized primary care is included in your DPC membership.
